Martin Hardie was Keeper of the Prints and Drawings at the Victoria and Albert Museum. He was also a very good etcher having studied under Sir Frank Short at the Royal College of Art. He became an Associate of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers in 1908 and, by 1920, he was both a Fellow and Honorary Secretary of the Society and of the Print Collectors’ Club. He was also a member of the Royal Watercolour Society and exhibited at the RA.
