Héléne -Louise Schwab was born on the 22nd of November 1878 in Baume-les-Dames, France. She studied under Jacques Fernand Humbert  (1842 – 1924), who was influenced by Puvis de Chavannes and from 1921 she exhibited in Paris at the Salon des Artistes Français, where she was a member. She continued to exhibit    annually until 1934. She was a painter of figurative subjects and landscapes, and her light impressionist style is typical of the period between the two World Wars.
