Laura Clunas studied at Herkomer's Academy at Bushey, and it was there that she met her future husband, the animal painter Harry Fidler. Laura's subject matter was portrait, domestic and rural subjects. She exhibitedon a wide basis including eleven works at the Royal Academy, fourteen at the Society of Women Artists; ten at the Royal Institute of Painters in Oil and two at the Royal Scottish Academy. This charming Impressionist study of a young girl cutting flowers is typical of her best work.
