French artist who studied under Alexander Cabanel and the genre painter E. A. Marsal. He exhibited on a regular basis at the Salon des Artistes Français of which he became a member. He was awarded medals in the Paris Salons of 1891.1892 and 1893  together with a Silver Medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1900. He was first and foremost a portraitist and a genre painter but also made a name for himself as an illustrator. He illustrated Emile Zola’s Neigeon, Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s Confessions and Paul Verlaine’s Fête-Galantes to name but a few works.
